Approved by the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) and authorised by UK financial regulators (Prudential Regulation Authority & Financial Conduct Authority), China Merchants Bank London Branch was officially established in January 2016. China Merchants Bank is the first among all the Chinese joint-stock banks to open a branch in the UK. This is the first branch directly established by a bank from mainland China since the founding of the People's Republic of China.
